THE OTHERNESS OF GIRLS

The Otherness of Girls is my experience of sisterhood. Growing up in a large family, the bonds I have created with my sisters have been shaped by our shared experience and heightened by our individual stories. With an age gap spanning sixteen years, the worlds we navigate have been very different – and the roles we play in each others’ lives equally so. This project began coming together about six years ago as a way to explore the space where our lives intersect. In looking at my sisters, I see my own experience mirrored back – the vibrant memories of girlhood mixed with the turbulent emotions and events that constitute its otherness.

This particular iteration is compiled from a period of 18 months following the sale of my childhood home.
